Privacy policy

This store is run by Genki Vitality Limited, a New Zealand company (company number 9251950, NZBN 9429052145490), of Level 2, 58 Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1021. In this policy, "we" and "us" means Genki Vitality Limited.

We collect personal information when you shop with us. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, where it is held, and what you can ask us to do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.

What we collect

When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, delivery address, billing address and phone number, along with the details of what you bought.

When you sign up to our emails, we collect your name and email address.

When you contact us, we collect whatever you tell us in your message, along with your contact details so we can reply.

When you browse the site, our website platform collects technical information automatically. That includes your IP address, the device and browser you are using, the pages you look at, and how you arrived at the site. Some of this is collected using cookies.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, information about your health or medical history. If you tell us something about your health in a message to us, we will only use it to answer you.

Payment information

We do not see or hold your full card number. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments. Your card details go straight to the payment processor and are handled under their security standards. We only see enough to identify the payment, such as the card type and the last few digits.

Why we collect it

We use your information to take and process your order, to take payment, to get your order to you, to answer your questions, to handle returns and refunds, to keep the business records we are required by law to keep, and to improve the site.

If you have opted in, we also use your email address to send you news and offers. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Unsubscribing does not stop the emails we have to send about an order you have placed.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where we need to, and only with the following.

• Shopify, which runs and hosts this online store.
• Our payment processor, so your payment can be taken.
• Our courier, so your order can be delivered. The courier gets your name, address and phone number.
• Our email tool, if you have opted in to marketing.
• Our analytics providers, which receive website usage data.
• Our accountant, and any government agency, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.

Where your information is held, and offshore storage

Our online store is hosted by Shopify, which is based overseas. Our payment processing, email and analytics tools are also overseas. This means your personal information is stored and processed outside New Zealand, including in Canada, the United States, and other countries where these providers operate.

We only use providers that are required to protect your personal information to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act 2020, whether under the privacy law of their own country or under the contract we have with them. By placing an order or signing up, you acknowledge that your information will be held offshore on this basis.

How long we keep it

We keep order and payment records for seven years, because tax law requires it.

We keep marketing contact details until you unsubscribe, and we remove them from our mailing list after that.

We keep general enquiries for 2 years, then delete them.

Keeping it safe

We use secure hosting, encrypted connections across the whole site, and access controls so that only the people who need your information can see it.

No system is perfect. If there is ever a privacy breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.

Seeing and correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email hello@genkivitality.co.nz and we will respond within 20 working days.

If you have an account with us, you can also log in and update your own details at any time.

Cookies

This site uses cookies. Some are needed to make the site work, for example to keep items in your cart. Others help us understand how the site is used. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings, but parts of the site may stop working properly if you do.

Children

This store is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the bottom.
